AGE LIMIT: Sironko Leaders Endorse Amendment of Article 102B.
A section of leaders in sironko district have endorsed the amendment of article 102b of the constitution.
This was during the consultative meeting convened by sironko woman MP Nambozo Florence Mayonga seeking views from local leaders, opinion and religious leaders at Ashurs’ community hall in sironko town council.
Nambaya Sogo Milton the chief whip of sironko district council proposed that article 102b should be amended because its discriminatory. He adds there many elder people who are above 75years who need to be catered for explaining that even youths need to be given chance to contest for presidency in this country. He also explained that Museveni is still strong to rule Uganda.
Nabukonde Rosemary the district councillor for Nalusala seconded the proposal to amend article 102b of constitution because they have benefited from Museveni’s government adding that there is peace and security.
Welikhe joseph Mabonga a youth leader in sironko explained that they have alot in the past regime and they don’t wish to go back in the dark days. Safiyi Mafabi another youth says they have peace and freedom thus supporting the proposal to amend article 102b of the constitution.
Nambozo Florence Mayoga said she has gathered all the views of sironko district and she is fronting two divergent views from the people of sironko. She says there is need to respect everyone’s opinion.
The meeting was attended by opinion leaders, religious and political leaders from the district.
Meanwhile, Some chairperson LC.IIIs and district councillors stayed away from the meeting requesting for a special meeting with the legislator as they had a different opinion
