Your District Engineers are sleeping-Museveni tells sironko residents

The president of Uganda H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has told residents of Sironko that their district engineers have failed to do their work and are just sleeping, and this has made the district to continuously have a poor road network.
He said this yesterday while addressing residents who had converged for a rally at Masaba senior secondary school in Sironko district.

Museveni said that the district engineers have for a long-time failed to identify the natural resources like rocks that are in plenty with in the district to be used in low cost construction of roads, he also said the government will embark on blasting the rocks so as to create raw material o help in construction of several roads in Sironko district so as to improve on tourism which has become one of the major economic activities for the district.

Museveni also revealed that the government has finally gotten money to embark on construction of the long awaited Namagumba-Budadiri-Nalugugu road.
Meanwhile Museveni who also had come to visit the survivors of the recent Bufupa landslides has called upon the minister of agriculture to start training residents of Sironko in proper soil management so as to cub soil erosion. Museveni also called upon the residents to avoid deforestation which has stripped the mountains of the vegetation which can help to guard against land slides.

In a related development leaders in Sironko district have requested for creation of a new district ‘budadiri ‘district so as to scale up development with in the Elgon region.

This was revealed by the Sironko district chairperson Hebert Mulekwa who read a memo that was prepared by the district local council for the president. He also said the leaders of Sironko have welcomed the proposed Sironko Municipality which will help to scale up urbanization with in Sironko district.

Mulekwa also said the leaders have requested for a secondary school ‘Bubolo seed school’ to be introduced in Masaba Sub County in memory of the landslide incident that befell the sub county on 28th of August 2017 in Bufupa parish.
