Masaba Subcounty Leaders-we Need Clean Water for affected People

Local leaders in Masaba Sub County, Sironko district have asked government to provide clean drinking water to residents who were displaced by mudslides in Bufupa parish.

Eunice Nandudu the Masaba sub county female district councillor says that the gravity flow piped water and springs were buried by the mudslides.
Because of the destruction, Nandudu says people now have to move for more than ten kilometres in nearby Bugitimwa Sub County to access clean water.

Laban Waniala the LCIII chairperson for Masaba Sub County has urged government to quickly support the affected people. Waniala says with some residents taking contaminated water, an outbreak of water borne diseases cannot be ruled out.

Peter Gidongo the deputy chief administrative officer for Sironko district says that they are aware of the problem. Gidongo however says they are prioritizing food and evacuation of the affected families to safer areas.
