Women in Bumalimba-Sironko district urged to fight poverty through groups

Meris Mudenga the Chairperson Mutufu Nandere Catering Women’s group in Bumalimba Sub County, Sironko District has urged women to form groups so as to fight poverty at household level.

Mudenga a former speaker at Sironko District Local Government says government is willing to support women through various programmes. She says this will only be possible, if they are organized through groups.

Daphne Nadenga a member of Mutufu Nandere Catering group says they offer catering services and save money for the members. Nadenga says members borrow money with minimal interest.

SIRONKO DISTRICT COUNCIL LEADERS BOYCOTT DISTRICT WOMAN MP’S CONSULTATION MEETING ON AGE LIMIT

Sironko district NRM councillors and L.III chairpersons yesterday abstained from a consultation rally convened by area woman member of parliament Hon Nambozo Florence Mayonga on a contentious age limit constitutional amendment. They accuse the Member of Parliament for reaching out only to people who are known to be in support for the amendment of article 102(B) of the National constitution, which will inturn allow the incumbent president of Uganda His excellence Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to contest again for presidency in 2021 if its successfully amended by Parliament. Article 102(B) of Uganda national constitution states that aperson above the age of 75 is not eligible to contest for presidency. Mbale FDC boss vows to clash with police ahead of planned POA rally

The FDC district chairperson of Mbale Margret Wakuri has vowed to hold their party planned meeting in Mbale municipality as planned despite police refusal to give her party clearance. Speaking to Bugisu Nation wakuri emphasized that she has flocked the central police offices several times but police has paid her a deaf ear. She also recalls at one time the police commander of Mbale district Mr Ahwera stephen advising her to tell her party members to hold indoor meetings which she says is against her party rules. "Our party rules say all aspiring candidates have to hold rallies throughout the country so as to market themselves for the party positions of contest'".
